66 C10 Rim Selections
building my C10 with 2.5 drop spindles, stock BBC front coils and 4" drop rear coils? any thoughts or experience on the rim/tire size that would compliment this setup? i was thinking going with standard 15x7 rally rims (5 lug) similar to what was used on the Chevelles and Camaros.

Re: 66 C10 Rim Selections
Those rally wheels look awesome.. my buddy just put them on his truck. I am now figuring out though that those factory 15" rally wheels don't accept disc brakes. So if you have disc brakes or are planning on doing them down the road you might do more research. I am currently facing this dilemma. I've got 255/70/15 on mine and I think they look much better then the next size down.. especially in the front. If you dont fill up that big front fender well it looks kinda goofy. I made that mistake on my 62'. Here's my 66" with the 255/70/15 setup.

Re: 66 C10 Rim Selections
I actually just started a thread on this same topic. I'm looking at disc brake conversions myself right now. All of the kits though say that they may not fit with factory 15" wheels. So I'm trying to figure out if that means just the factory Wheels or most 15" wheels.

Re: 66 C10 Rim Selections
Some rims don't have enough clearance for the caliber. So a older drum rim has the potential not to clear.

Re: 66 C10 Rim Selections
So 15x7 or 15x8 rallys will work?
I converted to 5 lug as well. If so best tire match for this setup? |

Re: 66 C10 Rim Selections
i like those. who made the rims?
This came from Custom Wheel Outlet on their 15x8 rallys.....Sorry, the hub bore on this wheel is not large enough to fit over your hub. You need a 108mm clearance or larger, and that wheel has a hub bore of 81.7mm. ah...this is greek to me. |

Re: 66 C10 Rim Selections
These wheels are from Summitt $90.00 ea. They are made by US Wheel. The center caps are Crager, bought those from Summitt also, $10.00 ea.

Re: 66 C10 Rim Selections
If you are going with a 15" rim don't get the modular drop spindles from CPP they will not work. Just a warning.

Re: 66 C10 Rim Selections
15" Wheels and disc brake all depend on the wheels. I have disc brake on my 65 with 15s and they fit perfect. If your changing to 5 lug nearly any wheel will work. Factory 6 lug steel wheels wont accept disc brakes due to the dish on inside of wheel. All depends on how many nubs there are on the face of the wheel. As far as I know most all 5 lug wheels will work with disc because most 5 lug trucks came factory with disc brakes. Any of your later model truck rallys and all should work with disc brakes.
