Question Tailgate Alignment

My tailgate does not align to the body properly when I shut it. I'm sure this is a common problem among these model trucks. Is there any way to adjust it so that it lines up properly? Thanks!

which way doesn't it line up? I know the joint brackets bolted to the bed are slotted slightly to allow for a little adjustment...

I'll take some pics when I get home from work today and post them. Easier than trying to explain it.

its not all the way closed, the latches are probably worn out.

I can shut the tailgate all the way to where it will line up, but it won't latch until you pull back on it. Maybe I should just replace the latches like Jeremy said?

ive never had to deal with that but id try to move the latch catches so they get closer to the inside of the bed if that doesnt work you can unbolt the lock latches and kinda make the hole a little bigger so it has play to adjust it inwards I know the ford tailgates have room to adjust em
