GMC LT-9 Help please
I've got a 1986 GMC K3500 dump truck with an LT-9 350. It supposedly makes 160HP but I kind of doubt it. I'd like to make some more power to make the truck more usable. It doesn't seem to have a lot of power with a load on. I'm thinking of the following:
1. Long tube headers to twin mufflers 2. Edelbrock Torker intake manifold and holley 650 carb 3. An "RV" cam that makes good low end torque. Does any one have any suggestions on the cam specs? Has anyone done anything similar? Anything that I haven't thought of? Thanks in advance for any suggestions. |

Re: GMC LT-9 Help please
Never heard of an LT9 before. But to answer your Q's:
1- great idea. 2- horrible idea. The Torker is the worst single plane intake out there, and even a great single plane manifold is a huge mistake. 3-yes, a smaller cam is a great idea. RV is a generic term that doesn't really mean anything.

Re: GMC LT-9 Help please
You should consider a dual plane intake manifold, not a single plane. The Eldelbrock performer series intakes are good but I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Summit or Jegs brand duel plane intake either. Check craigslist because I bought one nearly brand new for $75.
If you get a cam you need to buy new lifters as well, if you didn't already know.

Re: GMC LT-9 Help please
Thanks for the info. I've been scanning Craigslist and have come up with a few manifolds and some mani/carb sets. I'm an old muscle car guy so I've been into small block chevys a few times. I'm going to start with headers and mufflers and keep my eyes on Craigslist in the mean time.
