Body mount confusion

I have new energy body mounts, so you use your old washers and upper metal cone with these. So my old upper cone pieces are larger in diameter than the energy mounts. Some of mine were rusty so I purchased a used set of mounts on Ebay advertised as taken off of 81 to 87. They arrive and they are also the large rubber mounts. The energy rubbers do fit the large metal parts but are smaller in diameter and there is a space around the rubber and the upper cone. What is wrong here. Anyone know??

Re: Body mount confusion

I did not reuse the cone washers with my ES kit. i used the washers in the kit. i am pretty sure you cannot use the cones even if you wanted to

Re: Body mount confusion

I got a set here that I have to install soon and it didn't come with new washers.

Guess I'll be following this one.

My set is the 3.4116R

Re: Body mount confusion

You have to use the cones. They fit the energy mount fine. It is just the diameter of the energy mount that is smaller than the original.

Re: Body mount confusion

Can you provide pictures of the issue, or the parts you have that don't fit together?

Re: Body mount confusion

okay disregard my previous post. with 81-87 trucks you must reuse the factory cone sleeve. i was mistakenly thinking that they were all the same from 73-87

you have these
http://www.jegs.com/i/Energy-Suspens...4116R/10002/-1
in the instructions it shows the reuse of the sleeves

maybe the sleeves you got from ebay are wrong? i dont know man lets see some pics

Re: Body mount confusion

Here is a photo. On the right is the small cone, on the left the large cone, the ones I purchased on Ebay. The small one was from my truck and they were mixed with some large ones on the truck. You can see where the new Energy mounts are smaller than the Ebay cones. The OEM mounts on the left are the ones that were on the Ebay mounts.

Re: Body mount confusion

Typically the two smaller ones are used on the core support and the four larger ones are used one the cab. As far as the energy bushing fitting into the cup, that looks fine. I just installed the performance ones on my 2wd, and they were also slightly smaller than the OEM ones.
