Dropping fuel tanks on CC?

Will I be able to drop the fuel tanks on my '88 CC without taking the bed off? Will they lower far enough for me the get the fuel line connections loose? Or is it just easier to remove the bed also. Seems like 1/2 the rank is under the cab and other 1/2 is under the bed.

Re: Dropping fuel tanks on CC?

You can take it off without pulling the bed but it won't be much fun.

Cut the rubber fuel lines off and replace them with new SAE J30R9 hose. They're almost 30 years old.

Use Fuel Injection clamps or spring band clamps do not use cheap worm clamps on the fuel pump or the sender connections. The original fuel pump clamps are usually Oetiker Ear Clamps.

BTW. Most hose sections that come with replacement fuel pumps are not submersible SAE J30R10 hose... when I install a new in-tank pump I expect to throw out the included hose sections because they are not SAE J30R10 hose so they'll melt and crack when submersed in fuel. J30R10 has Fluroelastomer outer and inner jacket. J30R10 will handle E10 & E15 pump fuels fairly well.

My post on SAE hose types and proper clamps...http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=696742

Be sure to douche out the tank. If it's full of crusty varnish and or rust replace it.
