Post TBI

I posted this on the 88-98' board and didn't get any replies, thought I would try it here.

I have a 94' GMC with a TBI 350 and I have access to a 91'454 TBI engine that is complete from the TBI to the oil pan.I was wondering if anyone can tell me if I need to change computers for this swap or maybe just chips?Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have a sniffer test in MO? If so, you better talk to an inspection station. An older engine in a newer truck might be a no go.

I did a similar swap (5.7 to 7.4) TBI. I found from a detailed study of wiring diagrams, everything had to stay with the motor. did a lot of switching around ECM's and PROM's and even though it would run, it wouldn't run right until I had the ECM and PROM that came with that motor. In my opinion it would be best to switch the complete wiring harness and ECM with the motor

Thanks ebfabman,I was afraid of that.I don't think our sniffer test is real picky, and I know a few inspectors.

another option you may look into is superchips. they can tell you if your plan is feasible or costly but they can make it work.
