Opinion on grills

I got tired of removing my phantom grill once a year to get it to pass inspection, and replaced it with an LMC. I have since tagged my truck as an antique and the inspection is no longer required, so... I could put the phantom grill back in. Just kinda think the phantom grill is a little outdated, but i'm outdated also so, I don't know... any opinions?

Re: Opinion on grills

I like both , but.. your truck has a "Pro Street" look and the phantom suits it well. (I'm approaching "antique" category)

Re: Opinion on grills

I like the 2nd photo (the billet w/ the headlight buckets) better than the phantom. I had that one myself (the billet) it was on my truck when I bought it. But since then, I went with the stock grille. It looks way better, in my opinion.

Nice truck, btw!!!

I also like the second grill with the head light buckets.

Re: Opinion on grills

Its your truck so I would trust your own judgment. I do however prefer the 2nd pic better but that's just me. Still gives the truck a little class

This. Phantom grills look to me like someone strung some chicken wire from the hardware store across the front of the truck. But of your two options, #2 looks best.

Re: Opinion on grills

Pic #2 all the way. The Phantom was really cool buuuuut, that was a while ago IMO. Truck looks very nice. These things - as you know - are not "modern" trucks anymore. Those crazy aftrermarket grills are cool when things are still kind of new. As things age the factory original look tends to come off nicer. As evidenced by a million guy's trucks on here. Including my own.

Super clean, straught with the hood along with the big and little's really looks sharp.

Re: Opinion on grills

I like the first one the best, I like how it's split and I've never seen that one. I have the phantom in the shed bc it didn't fit right but I do miss it. I have half phantom in black on mine right now and have the stock grill and bezels hung up on the wall... Still looking for a 4th grill

Re: Opinion on grills

I think #2 looks more dated than #1. I've never liked #2 on any vehicle.

Re: Opinion on grills

Thanks for the input guys...

I love the stock grill for originals/resto-mods like N2Trux and TKCR's truck when the truck still has all the trim, but i didn't much care for the original on my truck. I don't know... maybe if I had gone with a new 85-87 like BBBC10 says, I might would've liked it better.

It seems to be the majority that the phantom is, as Malo83 puts it, "Long in the tooth like the Burb front end" and as bad as I don't want to admit it, I will have to agree...

I'll just hang it on my shop wall with my Euro Tailights, big Exhaust tip, and zig-zag shaped antenna...

Re: Opinion on grills

I liked my grill that came on the truck from a suburban but changed to the gmc grill recently, something about the 2nd grill really appeals to me. Can't figure out why I like it soo much! Lol

Re: Opinion on grills

Good god, I couldn't get past the width of the rears!!! Wow looks killer

Anyway you can change them to the round bulbs and an OEM style grill to match with chrome accents - Personal preference I like the round eyes better - Looks more older that way.
