No high beams!

Hey guys, I am having a hard time figuring out why my high beams aren't turning on.... New bulbs, new dimmer switch. Low beams work great. As far as can tell low/high are both the same ground so I assume that it ok, although I did remove the factory ground and scuff the paint off just in case. I have noticed that my high beam indicator on the dash sometimes comes on and sometimes does not... Any ideas? Thanks

Re: No high beams!

Have you looked at your headlight switch. You may have a poor connection or charred wires. If you have aspare switch try it .

Jump up and down on the dimmer switch 20 times. The contacts get dirty and they stop working.

Re: No high beams!

Don't assume a brand new switch is good just because it's new. Found plenty of stuff was faulty right out of the box. Spent days chasing my tail for no good reason. Just a little hard earned experience.

Check that there is power to the dimmer switch. If no, trace back to power source. If yes, Then check that once you click the dimmer, that power comes out of it. If that all checks out, look at the terminal at the firewall bulkhead connector. test both sides. If power on one side but not the other, you've found the disconnect.

Someone on the board has posted wiring diagrams. Print these and make them your friend!

Re: No high beams!

I have been the bad new part road before also. Electrical problems can be diagnosed with a simple test light. Check if the dimmer is giving power to where it is supposed to and if so work your way to the lights till you find no power. I have also learned to look at anyplace that someone has added or fooled with a wiring harness. A stock harness is pretty trouble free unless water has corrroded a plug. It is where changes have been made that problems begin.

Re: No high beams!

Just thought I'd let you guys know, it turned out to be a loose connection on the light bulb. Just filled the harness with some dialectic grease and boom! Thanks for all your help!
