Re: 74 C10 AC Compressor
A company called Alma Products makes brand new A6 compressors. I recently had a one of their new A6 compressors installed on my 1976 suburban. The AC mechanic said it sounded "smooth", but time will tell if the quality is any good.

How long has it been installed and where did you purchase it from?

Re: 74 C10 AC Compressor
Installed one from Factory Air into my 75 about 10 years ago. IIRC, purchased from Pep Boys. Has a made in USA sticker on it. From day 1, it made a noise similar to a valve tick. I had filled it with R-12 and it cooled great so I didn't do a warranty return since the value of the R-12 was about the same as the price of the compressor. Still makes that noise and still cools great.
