Washer Reservoir Upgrade

Went out junk yarding today. Found this 88 S10 washer reservoir and it fits like a glove......

I am not a fan of the mechanical set up on these trucks and I don't like the electric universal pumps either.

This set up has the pump in the reservoir and they are still available new, which I will be adding them to my fleet.

I ran a hot to the motor and used the ground circuit through the washer switch so it works fine.

Re: Washer Reservoir Upgrade

Oh, that is a good job there!

I went through this here recently. I ended up getting the universal pump and mounting it to the side of the original reservoir bracket. I like how it turned out but I still have to wire it up and run the hoses.

Can you post pics of how you wired it so that it worked with the original dash controls?

Why do you not like the universal pumps? I have never used one so I do not know anything about them.

Here is what I have so far. I intend to run the wiring behind and below the bracket, inside plastic auto conduit, and attached to the inner fender, hooking up so that I can use the original dash control. The hose will go inside the outer fender. I have the original squirter nozzles.

Re: Washer Reservoir Upgrade

No problem on the wiring,

The universal pumps that I had lost their prime easy and burned up fast. I had near the same set up like your picture and even installed an AC Delco pump. No luck for me, so I started looking for a set up that would use the small amount of space. The early S10 reservoirs are different, but the 88-94 is tight.

Wiring is pretty simple. I ran a hot off the fuse box that is constant with the key on. I will get a picture of the ground circuit for the switch.
