torque wrenchs

Somewhere some how I aquired a 1/2" drive hf torque wrench.
So I decided too test it.
Now I'm no dept. Of measures and scales here so a simple performance test was done just too check it.

I also used my 3/8"drive snap on and a 1/2" drive craftsman torque wrenchs too compare it too.

All are click types, no beam wrenches.

What I found was the craftsman and snap on stayed within 2-4#''s of each other all the way up too 100#'s (this is the max for the 3/8" snap on).

The hf stayed within 5#''s of the other 2 up too about 50#'s.
After that it started to fall way behind.
With the other 2 At 60#''s the hf needed to be set at 80#''s too match 60.
And it just got worse from there.

With the 2 at 100#''s the hf was maxed out at 140#''s too match them.

Now since Idk where the hf came from (kid didn't know either) I'm not sure if it was treated properly or not but figured it would be nice too know if it worked correctly or not
I figured this would be the one I would lend out if someone asked.

Just thought I would put this out there just in case somebody has some critical torquing too do with a hf wrench you better check it too be sure it works right.
I wouldn't even use it for lug nuts.

I had one similar to that from my younger years. I gave it to a guy just so I don't have the embarrassment of owning it. Now all I have is Precision split beams units. People keep trying to sell me electronic ones. I'd rather cut my head off with a soup spoon. It's like comparing a 1911 to a glock

I put the hf wrench way in the back of the cabinet out a sight
We have our local swap meet coming up perhaps I'll off it cheap.

Electronic ones require batterys. Even though they last a lil' while a guy could go broke keeping fresh batterys around for everything.
I can't stand batterys they are allways dead when ya need them the most.

Everything is rechargeable or battery operated in one way or another nowadays.....convenient till ya need it the most....give me a power cord any day.

I have a battery one, I only use it when doing torque to yield(degrees) in hard to reach places. The rest of the time I use break beam type.
