1968 CST 50th question

I am building a 68 50th clone and just have a question. From the factory, the emblem at the top of the doors, would it say 'Custom with the Red / White / Blue striped emblem' or would it have been the CST in goldish color like you see on Blazers ? Thanks.

Re: 1968 CST 50th question

is the yellow paint a 50th thing? i've also been wondering about the originality of the cst and custom emblems (yellow vs blue/red, and black vs unpainted background).

Re: 1968 CST 50th question

Chad, you could get the anniversary special on a CST or Custom. You could also get it on a base model as long as A50 bucket seats were ordered. On your tribute, why not just go with the seats. If you are using a bench seat with cloth inserts go with the Custom emblem. If you are using a bench seat with vinyl inserts go with the CST emblem. If you are using bucket seats then use the CST emblem also. The yellow is correct for a 1968 50th CST. The Custom on a 1968 50th has the black background.

where did you get the info about 50th option only being available on base models with bucket seats? i know you are an expert on originality, just curious where to find that kind of detail for future reference.

Re: 1968 CST 50th question

Very good information - much appreciated.

I think I'll go with the yellow CST emblems.

I'm basically building a truck of all the parts of the 67-72 model years that I like. I love the 50th trucks but I know it's not likely I'll ever find one. I didn't go with the exact paint colors for that reason.. just my rendition of a 50th looking truck. I have 69-70 saddle buckets and console, I'll be using 70-71 style saddle door panels (with the wood across the top) 71-72 Cheyenne Super bezel and glove box door for the wood grain, and a 69 Camaro 3 spoke rosewood / walnut 3 spoke steering wheel. (Repro) saddle carpet and dash pad.

The truck won't be represented as a true 50th, just my spin on it. I figured with it dropped and billets it won't be original anyway..

Again, thanks for the help!
