Headliner for Rear AC
My burb is a 68 but I have a 72 (I think) rear ac unit. It works great but I dont have a headliner yet. I know that there are a few companies making headliners for this generation burb, but I don't know if they will work with the AC. Were the headliners different from non-AC vehicles? Any thoughts?

Re: Headliner for Rear AC
I know nothing of aftermarket headliners for Suburbans. I still have my perforated original. It has a trianglular cutout in the back. IIRC, it fits between the A/C evaporator unit and the roof brace.

Re: Headliner for Rear AC
Can you tell me who's selling them? I'd like to look at options before I tackle making my own. Thanks.

Re: Headliner for Rear AC
It's bene a few months since I've looked, but there are at least a couple places that have them. My memory is failing but you can certainly buy the panels and the trim. These guys have the panels. I think I have links saved at home.

Sonofa, I didn't know anyone made anything or I would have just bought it instead of trying to make it. I am 3/4 or more towards purchasing one

Re: Headliner for Rear AC
No problem. I have a few other things to do before I tackle the headliner, but it is on the list which is why I was digging for info. I wish I could find the site that sold the liner and the chrome strips that hold it up. It's out there somewhere.

Re: Headliner for Rear AC
No, lol. I haven't bought one yet. I've just poked around a bit because my truck doesn't have one at all.

Re: Headliner for Rear AC
Well I'll pull the trigger some time this summer and post some pics. I have the full length AC, so I'm not sure how that's going to work which is why I posted here. I think the headliner panels can go between the roof and then AC, but I don't know how the metal strips will work. Cut them? Also go under and maybe put some weatherstripping around the top lip of the AC to fill the gap? We'll see. Right now I've got a new carb and fuel pump install to finish up and then I have a 4 wheel disc brake kit that arrived this Monday to tackle. And then I need seat belts so my wife and daughter can go in the truck. THEN I will tackle the headliner.

Re: Headliner for Rear AC
Mine is suede with perforated holes to give an original look. My local upholstery guy made and installed it.
I gave Tom at D and L truck parts my original strips that go between the original boards. They aren't perfect but decent. I'm sure he still has them and probably more. |

Re: Headliner for Rear AC
Closer detail.
I've seen the frp panels from Home Depot used and they looked good but wanted something more. |
