Who can identify this Intake Manifold?

Hey guys, I picked up this SBC intake manifold for $30 to swap my 327's Rochester 2jet to a 4bbl. Most of the factory cast iron manifolds I've seen have had 2 small ports and 2 large ports. This has 4 large ports. I've tried to google the casting numbers with no luck. What do I have? Also, I have a quadrajet carb, but the mounting holes on the baseplate don't match the mounting holes on the intake. The carb is too narrow left to right. I think it was on a BBC boat motor. Any help there? I have a lead on a edelbrock 600cfm, but wanted to make sure I don't have some strange manifold. Thanks guys!

Not for exact ID but it's an early (pre-1968) engine with the road-draft breather system and the front oil-fill / breather. Being square bore and not a Q-jet intake,, I'd suspect an application that came the the Holley like the L79, DZ and other HiPerf motors. BUT that's a guess on application. I believe some of the trucks 327's came with a Carter quad

Hopefully others can expand on that.

Your casting number is 3872783 and is a 1966 327 275HP Impala, Chevelle Nova and 1966-1967 Corvette 300HP for Carter 4 barrel and Holley carburetor only . Some of these intakes had a large H cast into them

Thanks for the help guys. I do see the 3 now on each end. So will the edelbrock not work on this? I'm sure there's an adapter? There looks to be two threaded holes just inside of the FWD holes in the groove.

Edelbrock is a squarebore like the Holley and Carter. It will 'bolt on' . Work.... that's another question. I've had 4 of the Edelbroke versions of the AFB and never had any luck with a one of them. Be sure you have a fuel regulator even with a stock fuel pump. The Edelbrocks will push past the needle and seat and run pig-phat rich at 5.5psi of fuel pressure. Read your manual CAREFULLY

Like the others have said it came with an AFB on it. You see also that there is a heat riser channel under the carb mounting pad, it takes a stainless steel plate over that. I think the order is manifold, gasket, plate & then the carb right against the plate, no gasket. Never was the best setup, weather changes caused vacuum leaks.

didn't the 300hp take the afb and the 250hp the rochester 4gc series. I think the 275 hp(66) used the R quadrajet,

1966 300HP 327 Corvette used a Holley , there is a Carter listed for 1965 Corvette 300HP , no other car had a 300 HP in 66 . BUT , 1966 "cars" with the 275 HP also used a Holley 3230 and Carter 4027 on the 275 HP cars. Impalas even had a letter H added to the engine suffix if it came with the Holley. 1967 the Q-Jet took over on the 275HP. The 4GC carb I dont think will fit this 3872783 intake at all. Heres some reading for you from the Chevrolet bible. This book does not cover truck applications though.

Jon as I said the 300 hp used the afb and the 250 used the 4gc neither of these engines were used in 66. in this context I was referring to an earlier post of using an AFB. in 66 there was also a 230hp 327 which may have used the 4tgc. the 275hp did use 3 different carbs as you have listed
I do have a intake here and a 4gc, off a 250 hp but don't feel like ging into the pile to pull the intake for the #

Thanks for all the awesome info guys. So it sounds like I should be looking for a carter or Holley. You guys have any PN's or model numbers and CFM I should be looking for? Especially in the Holley, it looks like there are a lot of options. I was wanting to stay in the 600-650 cfm range to avoid over fueling the 327. Any thoughts? Thanks guys! Maybe one of you have one laying around, or know someone that does

I don't think a Holley will fit that manifold CORRECTLY & the reason I say that is because of that heat riser. I have NEVER seen a Holley iron manifold with two size bores on it & never seen one that had a heat riser with the stainless steel plate under it. But I have been wrong before, it happens quite often! I think I have one of those in the barn & if I can find it I will see if a Holley will drop over the studs & how it fits this weekend.

That is the big rub with this particular manifold. We called them hot slot intakes. Exhaust gasses under the carb base. Many other manufactures used the same set up - briefly. Back in the day we would drill the holes to size, then tap for a screw in plug. Done deal.

I remember helping one of my schoolmates with the same thing on the 327 in his '56 Chevy, we used a tube of "Liquid Metal". Filled in the whole slot. Ah, the good ole days!
