Truck Shop Closed?

I requested an updated catalog around Thanksgiving. Went to their website and they shut their doors.

Re: Truck Shop Closed?

Never heard of them. Maybe that's why. I'm more familiar with LMC, Classic Parts, and Jim Carters, all of which just happen to be in KC.

Big props for LMC, the customer service is second to none.

IF you must buy reproduction parts. I do everything possible to avoid it.

Agreed! See my roof swap/re-build thread for how we used LMC patch pieces and re-pro body parts.
We (including my body shop guys) are very happy with all aspects of LMC.

Re: Truck Shop Closed?

BEWARE! Truck and Car Shop sells parts trim parts that do not fit, and when you live half way across the country they do not care after they have your money. LMC is awesome.

Too bad, They were always at Carlisle with super deals on parts. I've never had something that didn't fit, and I've bought beds, doors, etc.

I've never had a problem with them, and I have bought a lot of stuff over the years.

Re: Truck Shop Closed?

I searched thetruckshop.com and though sparse the website is still there. No hard copy catalogue is listed.

Jerry Brown's TruckShop is in Crossville TN, not to be confused with The Truck and Car Shop in Orange, CA. I'm not sure how LMC got interjected into this thread but Jerry Brown was building and selling parts for these trucks before LMC existed and before the interweb for that matter. His ads were in Hemmings Motor News for years. Without people like Jerry this hobby would be nowhere near where it is.

I never have met Jerry in person, but talked on the phone and he was more than happy to share info and talk trucks. It's inevitable that things change, but it makes some of us old guys melancholy.

Re: Truck Shop Closed?

What do we have here, a bunch of LMC employees? Anyone who only knows their local places doesn't know much. There are places all over this country with as good as or better quality than LMC. Not to mention "specialists" like Jerry Brown and many others...and Jim Carter is one. Nobody makes everything they sell. So, the one you put down could be selling the same parts as the one you're propping, and visa-versa. When you say "their customer service is second to none", do you mean their customer service comes in second behind none at all, meaning worse than no customer service? I'd have to agree on that

Anyway, back on topic. If you mean Orange County, this is them:
www.truckandcarshop.com

If you mean Crossville, TN:
www.thetruckshop.com

I didn't see anything about them shutting their doors. You had me worried

Re: Truck Shop Closed?

I guess the original poster could have been more specific, since it appears there were three or more "Truck Shops". I'm not familiar with whoever number 3 was. I Googled that website address and came up with a dead spot. Now I see the message. I'm still not sure the thread starter was intending to deal with this now closed outfit or was using the wrong address. With so many sharing the same name you have to watch your Ps and Qs. There is also www.truckshopinc.com and www.thetruckshopinc.com

I think I'll start a business and call it "Another Truck Shop", or should it be "Newest Truck Shop" or maybe "Truck Shop 6"?

Re: Truck Shop Closed?

Too bad, but time marches on.

I never met him but talked on the phone a lot. He is a nice guy. I was over there a while back but didn't get time to go by his place.

He sure built some nice trucks.

Re: Truck Shop Closed?

Yes, Jerry's health forced him to stop. Jason is teaching auto shop and the inventory, show spaces, etc. were sold to Southern Kentucky Classics/Woodall

https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...JMC-aGMI3c8E3A

It saddened me to learn this from Jason, not long after I posted here. He asked me to keep it under my hat, so I respected that. I figure by now it's obvious with him absent from shows this year. I've also heard it around the grape vine, so no longer a secret. I wish Jason could have bought it and carried on, but no mutual agreement could be made. End of an era.

I mean that I have never had customer service from any other vendor as good as the customer service I got from LMC. Let me give you an example. I ordered a quarter panel for a C-10. It came damaged, not destroyed damaged but damaged. I called them up and there wasn't even a hesitation, another one is on it's way, period, done deal. As I remember I had to email them a photo of the damage, that was it, no returning the damaged one going through all that crap, just throw it away I was told.

The new one came express, 2nd day what ever it's called where as I had my original order sent by mule team, not worried about the time. They got that replacement panel to me in a few days!

Nope, I have never had service like that from any other supplier. I just ordered some things Friday from them and expect the same as every time, LMC is "second to none"

second to none:
"Better than everything else." "This is an excellent car—second to none." "Her suggestion was second to none, and the manager accepted it eagerly."
