Big Block Bellhousing Crossmember
I was under the impession that there were only two versions of the bellhousing crossmember, I6 and V8. Yesterday I heard about a big block version. I searched and I can't find any info besides a for sale ad from 2011.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=466529 I was wondering if it holds the transmission at a different height for the big block. Does anyone know anything about the big block version? I'm replacing the I6 in my 67 with a 69 396 and keeping the 3 speed transmission. Should I find a big block version? If I can't find one, should I use a V8/SB version in its place?

Re: Big Block Bellhousing Crossmember
The big block uses all different clutch linkage pieces and bellhousing mounts. This is to make up for the difference in location of the BB motor mounts.
They aren't real common, but they are out there. Easiest way to motor swap IMO is to go to a rear transmission crossmemember from a TH350 truck and a rear mount on the trans. Not possible on an SM465 but is on a 3 speed.

What specific different BB bellhousing mounts are you referring to? Photos and part numbers would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Big Block Bellhousing Crossmember
I just bought this 67-69 parts manual on eBay. Hopefully it will help figure it out.
