CIG lighter hookup
i have a 73 gmc truck with the old style cigar lighter. i have a hot wire coming from the fusebx. where does it get connected. is there a spade a base of the lighter for hookup. do i need a kit. any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance. joeyt

A lot of the older lighter sockets had a round threaded post in the center on the rear for the positive connection. They require a round female connector.

mr chevy, i want to replace well with a new one. having trouble taking out old one. the ash tray is riveted to dash. does the well screw in. i can see threads at the base of well. sprayed wd40 at base threads. i'll get back to you. thanks for any suggestions. frankyjoe

Thanks to all for your help. after applying several sprays of wd40 on the back threads, i was able to remove the sleeve clockwise . The old socket/sleeve at rear had the post missing. i bought a new lighter sleeve socket at Azone. the hookups are spades. 1 for grnd the other for hot. Total time to remove and insert new set was about 1 hr. The new set is a made by Victor, universal. thanks again. frankyjoet
