'70 K20 4x4 rear end shaft seal
'70 K20 4x4. Leaking oil from the input shaft in the rear end, so i'm planning to pull the yoke and replace the seal.
Trying to identify which rear end I have to that I can get the right seal ordered. I don't see any stamps or tags on the housing. Any identifying marks or features that I should look for? Thanks |

Re: '70 K20 4x4 rear end shaft seal
if it has a removable diff cover AND a removable third member like a ford 9" then its an Eaton (most likely whats in it) If it only has a removable diff cover then its most likely a Dana 60.

it does have a removable diff cover and third member, as jhama78 indicates. Pics attached.
Can you confirm that this is the Eaton rear end? Any way to tell which Eaton model or which gears are on it? Is this the stock/original rearend for this truck? |

Yes, that is factory. Do you have optional gears listed on your SPID? No? I think 4.10:1 was standard.

Yep, Eaton HO52. As noted above, 4.10 is the most common gearset.
