Help from guys with 3" exhaust

I was wondering what mufflers you guys with 3" exhaust are using? I lnow its gonna be loud regardless, but which ones make a real nice tone or exhaust note? I've been watching YouTube and so far I've liked

DynoMax Bullets
Dynomax Ultraflo mufflers
Borla XR1's but it was a crappy vid so couldn't really tell how it sounded

Please include video and how your exhaust is set up. I have been hearing that muffler placement has a big part in sound as well??

3" pipe through Flowmaster 40's.

Made the system myself out of a 10' stick of 3" tube and one mandrel bent 3" 180. Side exit at an angle in front of the rear tires.

That's kindof what I was thinking too. What's the difference between those and Flowmaster 44's?

Re: Help from guys with 3" exhaust

im running dynomax race bullet mufflers on my 3" system . i have no crossover pipe and side exit before the rear tire. yes its very loud at high rpms but really not bad at cruising speeds and highway use. the idle sound is to die for though. to each his own.

Same thing here but I have the tips exiting angled out behind the rear spring shackles and have an H-pipe just behind the collector. The system is hooked to Hooker Comp full length headers.

Re: Help from guys with 3" exhaust

I'll see if I can get a clip loaded of my truck. I only have 2.5" but do have super 40's. I love their growl and idle note.

Re: Help from guys with 3" exhaust

Not installed yet, but I have 3" with a X-Pipe and I chose Spintech mufflers after a lot of youtube videos.

On a vette: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdoSrdvKGhk

Will upload a video when it's done in 2-3 weeks.

This I would like to hear. I had a pair of bullets in 2.5" and returned them when I went to 3". Dynomax bullets sound great at WOT too

70 Chevelle SBC mild cam Pypes Violator

69 Chevelle Pypes Street Pro

Both sound good. I think violator is just a little louder than street pro

Those Pypes street pros sound great! How do they sound under acceleration and WOT?

Re: Help from guys with 3" exhaust

This is my new 3" setup with Flowmaster 10's. I love the idle, but there's really no cruise or part throttle tone to it, just loud. Idles wicked though lol

Re: Help from guys with 3" exhaust

I Vote Dynomax ultra flow too, they are great for cruising around as you can hear your self think, but when getting on the loud pedal they get mean as!

They don't sound as hollow/tin can as the Flowmasters, they have a more deep throaty sound.

Re: Help from guys with 3" exhaust

I have 2" Hooker Comp full length headers through 3" Pypes turn downs with cut outs coming out under the doors for fun and racing. The other end of the 3" Pypes flow through a flowmaster x pipe and super 44s and dump just before the rear end. I want to run a tail pipe over the rear and dump under the rear bumper. The panard bar and blazer tank are giving me a challenge. I'll get it.

Re: Help from guys with 3" exhaust

I'm running Thrush 17649 Welded mufflers off Hedman 69110's and dumped in front of the MT 50's. They sound awesome, can vary the growl tone with throttle position...

Thanks! They are Flowmaster Delta Flow Super 40's. I have long tube headers with (IIRC) 1-5/8" primary to 3" collectors. Then reduced to 2-1/5" pipes with no cross over.
