Re: Purely subjective: 67 small window vs.

Same as others. Small for aesthetics. Big for visibility. Drive my 69 in traffic nearly every day, so you can guess which I prefer.

Re: Purely subjective: 67 small window vs.

Wanted a big window initially... found a deal on a 67 with a small window and it grew on me. Like most, a big window is nice to see but the small window is unique and fits the classic look of our trucks.

I do like the small back window in our 2 '71's but I prefer the larger window in my '72.

Right now my project is dead in the water until I get a new cab. The thought of a small window is intriguing, so i'm trying to entertain all opinions on the subject.
It is my opinion that if your truck was originally a large back window then go back with that... I personally like the look of the small back window which defines the early 1967 (manufactured only from July 1966-April 1967)...

The small Back Window is a bit more rare that the "panoramic" big window... Obviously the Large window has more visibility rearward than the Small but also has more sun beating on the back of your neck...

Ho with what you like the look of...

Re: Purely subjective: 67 small window vs.

my small window has factory installed snaps around it. I guess the window could be removed so one could slide through it and into a camper shell. the snaps held a privacy cover. I believe it's for a Camper Special but I'm not sure. BTW I prefer the small window.

Camper Specials didn't Necessarily have this... Mine didn't have that and I don't find that as a option in the option list...

As you can see by several replies, it seems that many think 67 was the last year for the small window, myself included.
Do you have any pictures?

Thanks for the feedback Elliot. My truck does not have the SPID unfortunately. I'm hoping the snaps would be on there somewhere.

BTW, is the complete option list available now for these trucks? How do I obtain one if so? I ask because I read somewhere that the SPID can be reproduced.
Thanks again.

I actually bought a original Sales order Book... The snaps are not part of the ordering options according to the 1967 Sales Order Guide...

Those are not factory installed snaps . Back in the day we used to install a lot of privacy curtains in the trucks .

You can find lots on google but I can snap some in the morning if you need.

I will agree that '67 was the last year for the small back window on 10's & 20's & 30's but C40's and up could have had them through at least '72.

Re: Purely subjective: 67 small window vs.

I am a firm believer 67 was the last year of the small back glass. BUTTTTTT my truck is actually a 68 and the previous owner swore it's the original cab. I know for a fact my cab and front fenders are 67 but the bed is a 68 with the markers. I believe my truck is a Frankenstein but you would never convince the previous owner of it. The vins match but no spid.

All that being said I have seen previous year parts used on the next year just to get them off the shelf.

Re: Purely subjective: 67 small window vs.

I had a 56 Chev pick up with the small window. I said if I ever got another one I would only get one with the panoramic rear window.

Fast forward many years. I picked up a 67 with the stock small window. Ugh, I liked the look, but way too hard to see out of for my likes.

Re: Purely subjective: 67 small window vs.

Having driven lots of miles in 51 GMC with 3 windows I know why the 5 window cabs are so popular. My dad said that back in the day he was a Furd man until he drove a 5 window Chevy. (That and the front axle placement on the 53 Furds.) It all comes down to whether you want to look good or want a good look.
