Thumbs up Mr horsepower...old school stuff (GMC progress)

I got the stickers in the mail yesterday, and have been happier than a pig in poop. Hopefully I'll get some flames on there, but I may not since it'll have a for sale sign in the window in the next two weeks...either way, I am more proud of the 'ole girl than I have been in a long time.
With any luck, I'll get to clean her up and take a good pic or two before the end of the weekend.

Gun control, the theory that 110lb. women have the "right" to fistfight with 210lb. rapists.

The reason animal rights activists are more passionate about fur than leather is because it's safer to harrass rich women than bikers...

Wh yare you selling her? How much? and did you do the flat black job yourself? I would loveeee to do that to mine, I've always thought flat black and primer grey are sexy on old cars.

I'm selling it...relictantly...becouse in reality, it is a POS, and onless every single panel were to be replaced, it would be nothing but a beater for the rest of it's life. Also, acording to the PO, it has a little more than 500,000 miles on it, and when you drive it, it does feel like a 500,000 mile old truck. This is not to mention that the cash will be going to the caddy big block one ton longhorn so i can get that sucker on the road.
i would love to sell the lincoln, get the one ton on the road, register it as a historical, and daily drive the SWB...but it just isn't in the cards. Beside, I'd be happy as a little school girl if I got a penny more than 500 bucks for the town car...and 5 bills don't go very far.
Yes, I did the primer myself.... here is the thread. http://207.44.196.117/vboard/showthread.php3?t=94139
I agree that the flat colors look good...but this stuff is fading to gray pretty quick, and starting to look crappy. If you plan on this, talk to Dubie. He did his right. (he kept the GMC grill on his too)

Is there a non-glossy clear coat or something like that out there to protect it from fading?

You can use a flattening agent in the clearcoat. Ask your paint supplier for the product that is appropriate for your paint type and brand.

Here is a shot of my 54 that I put flattened orange basecoat/ clearcoat on in 1999 (I think). It still looks as good today as it did then. The flattened paint is just as durable as normal paint. Whereas, primer will deteoriate very quickly in the elements.

my truck was hit not too long ago and i took it to the body shop and they matched the color of my primer and did a base coat dull clear coat on it so it would match. you cant even tell till it gets wet, then i beads the water where it has been painted and the rest of the truck just soaks it up

My paint is a single stage urethane with clear coat and flattening powder all mixed into 1. I just had to mix 1 part paint, 1 part catalyst and thin it by 30% and shot it on. Here are a couple pics of the finished product

Dubie that is interesting, never heard of it done that way. I take it since high gloss wasn't the point there was no buffing afterwards right? Do you polish or wax it? Has it held up well?

There is no buffing or waxing needed. This gave me the look I was after and is low maintenance. So far the paint has really held up well. It has sat out in the sun, rain and now snow since May and hasn't faded a bit.

The mirrors you can buy from any board vendor here. They are called Peep mirrors and runa round $25-$40 per pair for you guys. I paid $70 / pair up here in Canada
