Mystery small block

I just got a small block engine the other day and I am trying to figure out what it is exactly the casting number is 3970010 and when I look up this number it says it's a 69 302 4 bolt main with 290 horse out of a z28 camaro then I looked up the numbers that are stamped on the front of the block witch are V0823ckd 131109635 and they say that's it was built in flint Michigan on 8/23 and I think the year 73 and with the engine suffix and the the year it says it's a 350 with 200 horse I'm just trying to figure out witch one it is and what exactly the numbers and letters mean if someone coould help me out it would be greatly appreciated.

Casting number 3970010 is the most common engine block known to man. Billions of those were produced from 1969 through the early 1980's.

CKD is the suffix code for a 1970's 350 smog engine that made anywhere from 175hp to probably 200hp.

It is not a DZ302.

Re: Mystery small block

Known as an "oh-one-oh" block, it's possibly the most common SBC casting number. The casting number is usually only a loose classification of what type engine it is - stamped numbers on the front pad are what narrows it down.
