i think its shot. i jack the rear up and the drive shaft spins about 20 degrees before catching and spinning a wheel, seems like alot of play plus i could pull the wheels in and out a little bit like the axles could slide. didnt realize that you could change the splines that easily.

I would just rebuild the 12 bolt you have. The only drawback to the '63 12 bolt is that you will be stuck with drum brakes since the backing plates are pressed on. That's only an issue for some people.
