What year is your truck? I ask because around 1975 the DOT briefly required antilock brakes on all new heavy trucks and buses. Needless to say, it was a fiasco, the technology just wasn't there yet for reliable ABS on air brake equipped vehicles. Most operators removed the ABS components and replaced the complicated and failure-prone ABS control valves with standard relay valves. The sensor in your picture looks like an old wheel speed sensor.

That is VERY interesting history! Thank you for that. I'll have to read up on that. Really cool info!

Not sure if he found the year. It was a mystery at one point.

Re: H70 front brakes ..What is this ?

Very interesting indeed. the business end does indeed look like a mag sensor I just discounted that as uhm I mean really it is a 70's truck . The online serial number info I can find and the TITLE both call this a '75 chevy. However I have reason to believe it was converted to "4x4" by Fabco before delivery ... all I have left is the placards on the dash and the Dual air shifters for the transfer case... at some point it was "reconverted" so that front axle may or may NOT be original to THAT truck .

Grey, you might just have the most perplexing and confused truck I've ever heard of.
