I want to see your W/Ts!
To be honest, I really dig the aesthetic and relative simplicity of the w/t package trucks...their ethos heartens back to classically simple pickups, and of course the sealed beam grilles were really cool too.
let's see yours! Here's the closest thing I've owned to a w/t: base model '88, no OD, AC, cloth bench and vinyl floor. It was a good truck, aside from the lack of OD! I've been w/t-less for 3 years now, but hope to be buying another one soon, provided I can find one without a ton of miles.

Re: I want to see your W/Ts!
I love the base or W/Ts. Here is what got me hooked on them, my old 92. It was V6 & 5 speed. First one is the day I brought it home, the last 2 are how it ended up looking. I really regret getting rid of it. Currently I own a 2002 and 2007 SWB W/T

Re: I want to see your W/Ts!
Thanks I am in the process of going two tone paint with body color wheels. I have the wheels done and the hood and one side painted. I am driving it as I work on it so only painting in sections so I don't have to ride around in primer too long. Plus I don't like spraying to much at a time living in a residential area.

To me you can't beat what you already got, but I may be just a bit biased
![]() Looking forward to seeing yours when you get the paint finished.

Re: I want to see your W/Ts!
Just picked up this up friday night as a yard truck. 95, 4.3L bare bones. Needs a good cleaning. Hasn't been run in 5 years, new battery and some fresh gas and I got it running. Busted a brake line first thing and the weatherstripping for the back window needs reinstalled however I'm pretty happy for $400. Frame needs some work, so might end up being a yard truck for a couple of years.

Re: I want to see your W/Ts!
Suburbans weren't officially W/T series, but mine is a base model and I use it for work!

Re: I want to see your W/Ts!
Well it does have the right grill and seal beams. I have never owned anything with composite headlamps yet. I do sand a buff plenty for customers though.

Re: I want to see your W/Ts!
When I ordered my '92 K3500 SLT it hit me that I could have bought two W/Ts for the same money. Thee headlights I never cared much for. I always wondered what it would take to put the four bulb set-up in. I did have this '95 K3500 Cheyenne. I changed out the grille for a W/T one

Re: I want to see your W/Ts!
That it did. I had the factory order '92 that to me was custom built, but by the factory. Then I found this Cheyenne on a used car lot 3 years old, same drivetrain and it had the tilt/cruise/air pkg. I did a "conversion-style" job on it while enhancing it's utility.
I don't know the low-down on the W/T series. The trucks I see here I always thought were Cheyennes, the base trim trucks. There were trucks that were specifically W/Ts and those had the W/T 1500 stickers in place of emblems, painted front bumper, and their own special grille as shown in the last picture of my Fairway Green truck. I'm not sure they were even available in all colors. I'm not sure what years they were offered, but I know in '92 they were. When I bought the grille at the dealership I asked for '92. I figured in '94 maybe they stopped using that grille when all grilles changed. Did the series continue, just not so advertised/marked? I believe '90 was the first year. Base trucks have traditionally been used by businesses forever. I'm wondering about more specific info on this W/T series, while we're at it showing pictures. An example. Not mine:

Re: I want to see your W/Ts!
Ok, I see yours has an emblem on the tailgate. I was just wondering if Chevy only offered them a short while and people just call any basic truck a W/T or if they only did the special grille and painted bumper for a while. These were only 1500s, right? It's funny how we have come along, that we got to the point where a specific "work truck" model is offered. I remember when they were all for work

Re: I want to see your W/Ts!
I just parted out a 96 long bed W/T It was optioned the same as my 98 except for Manual trans. Black center caps and black no power mirrors also on both.
![]() ![]() Around here the painted bumper is a bonus as all the chrome ones rusted rt. through. My original bumper had surface rust but sandblasted and painted it is fine plus I could cut and weld my aux. lights into it. ![]() I think they were offered in a 2500 also I know the seal beam grille was available in the 2500 |
