Front axle swap question

Will a front axle from a 1982 suburban 3/4 ton 4x4 bolt up to a 1972 suburban 1/2 ton 4x4? If not, what years are compatible? Im want to change my 1/2ton over to the 8lug axles. Thank you in advance for any help.

Re: Front axle swap question

As long as the axle hasn't been modified, it is a direct bolt in. Gm kept the same spring perch width for quite a few years, even when they switched to the Corporate 10 bolt front axle. Just make sure you match the axle ratios for the front and rear axles and you should be fine.
