Main fuse block recommendation

My setup is a ls 5.3 with 4l60e in a 49. I plan to buy a new engine harness from psi. Wondering about the main harness. Looks like painless makes a nice kit. But there are many options for the amount of circuits. I plan to run a very simple truck. Roll up windows and just basic lights. Would a 21 circuit suffice? Painless is replacing their 12 with a 21. Here is a pic of their new design.

I used a Speedway house brand 20-ish circuit harness and have plenty of extra circuits left over.

Sounds like for your needs 12 circuit would likely fit the bill.

I found this one made in USA by kwik. 14 circuit with kill switch $300. Thoughts on this one?

Rebel Wire, Painless, Ron Francis (if you have the $$ to spend), EZ wire or possibly the Speedway offering.

Along with quality of the product the support system and being able to get someone on the phone to answer questions is real important with wiring kits.

I've worked with a EZwire and it was simple in my dads 61 gmc truck,

Im doing a ls swap on my 56 truck and really all what is need is basic and i'm still going to have some wires left over out of the harness so I'd go with whos cheaper and who you like.. most of your engine stuff is in the ls wire harness..

I like EZ Wire kits the wire gauge seems to be larger than Painless, and the printing on the wire is E Z to read for a old man with glasses

You must have a good knowledge of circuits when using EZ Wire and the info
Just do one circuit at a time (in the same area) with Home runs in place

i like the aaw kits/ but the kit with the kill switchon the fuse panel is NICE !!

Are these "kits" better than just going to a wrecking yard and removing (i know its time consuming) a complete "modern" harness out of , for example , a vehicle that the engine you have goes to ?? , or is there just too much unnecessary wires and trimming to deal with doing it that way ???

my truck is also very simple, no electrics in the doors and I used American Auto Wire with their 12 or 14 circuit setup.

Ive bought a EZ 21 wire harness a while back for $100 at a swap meet, I plan on using in my 58. Simple 383 /700r4 ,Im not convinced it will be enough for all, elect.fans, fuel pump,relays, wipers, blower for heater ect. and plan on air cond. in the future .
My opinion is more is better, Im not sure what all is needed for LS motor and ? trans.

I would think it would be hard to find a modern fuse box that would be compact to fit in the truck . I found this one a while back from Johnny Law decent price
