Matched Aerosol Paint
Anyone know where I can find an aerosol can of matched exterior paint for our trucks? Mine is a 1949 with the dark green exterior.

Some paint stores will mix paint and put it in spray cans for you. I used to go to a paint store in Waco Texas in the 70's that sold a lot of custom mixed spray cans to bikers who painted their choppers with them. I used a lot of his primer and black as I didn't have a spray gun or compressor.

I figured that was the case. Years ago when I was a teenager I had some paint mixed and loaded in cans so I could paint my door jams before taking my truck to a Maaco, good ole days.
I was hoping someone sold them mail order. I just want to do a little touch-up for now on my firewall. The paint shop I used back then is long gone but I'll have to check around to see if this service is still available. |

check with NAPA if they are in your area. Up here in the rain city, there are a few NAPA stores that will custom mix paint & put it in a spray can. good luck

I'm in a medium size town and there are two paint shops that will color match and fill a spray can. They have a portable analyzer they put over the existing color to get the mix. A web search should bring up places nearby.
In my very limited experience - buy the clear to put over the color, it matches much better that way. Cost was something like $20-$30 each.

Yep, I called around and found several paint shops that do it. $25 a can seems like the going rate. I'm just surprised places like LMC or Classic Parts don't carry cans of color. |

If you're really just trying to save some of the hassle of using a gun, you might look into a Preval sprayer. That's what my interior guy uses with good results.

just found an ad in car & driver for automotivetouchup.com - says they make paint pens & 12 oz spray cans. good luck
