Thanks Lock for the link, but it looks like highwinger's solution to my problem was buying a different brand. I hope it doesnt come to that.

What brand did you buy? Mine were ridiculously tight when I redid them. So much so, that it took 2 people to get them closed and locked. Thankfully, after a few weeks in the summer, they now open and close beautifully.

No problem. If the gasket isn't seating in the channels I don't see it improving on it's own. It would be worth waiting to see if the fit improves like lefty's did though. Either way, if you think about it later post the outcome in this thread.
