Re: Post Your Factory Correct Restored Trucks! (No Customs!)
Ok. Factory Correct restore question -
Oil Filter cannister on a 1962 235 engine? All I have ever seen was black with orange top. But when mine came out it was all black with a rust colored top. No idea of the factory correct top color on the '62 for the 235 engines. Before after:

Re: Post Your Factory Correct Restored Trucks! (No Customs!)
Many of those early canisters were Blue with orange top in the mid to late 50s, that's what my 59 has. I just went out and looked, I have a 1962 12,000 mile shortbed with a 235 and mine looks to be all black with a white "AC stencil on top. I believe the white was originally a yellow color as Im finding that color on 63 stenciled air cleaners also. Heres pictures from the 62.

Re: Post Your Factory Correct Restored Trucks! (No Customs!)
wasn't there something about the different colors in being factory installed or dealer installed oil filters?

Re: Post Your Factory Correct Restored Trucks! (No Customs!)
Here's a great write up from Patrick Doonan of D & D ANTIQUE AUTO PARTS - over on the stovebolt site.
http://www.stovebolt.com/techtips/en.../index.html#60 I know mine was originally black base, but know idea of the cover top. Guess a quick re-paint isn't too bad for just the top. But matching that stencil lettering is gonna be a pain. So far no luck on the decal.

Chevy tu-tone paint scheme, dual exhaust and oak bed wood but otherwise a stock GMC including 305 V6, bias ply tires, drum brakes, etc.

That color really makes the truck photogenic. It isn't shy of the camera. Great looking truck.

Re: Post Your Factory Correct Restored Trucks! (No Customs!)
X2! The factory metallic colors ( which were few and far between) really make these trucks look even more modern. IMO, this is the pinnacle of the series, a truck that looks great and can still handle a heavy 4'x8' load. Looks like it just rolled off a dealership lot in '65. Thankyou for all your efforts, extremely well done, very inspirational.

Re: Post Your Factory Correct Restored Trucks! (No Customs!)
Awesome metallic turquoise color and such a throwback to the mid sixties period when all the Chevrolet lines except Corvette were popular in this color. Your trim lines, gaps, and factory paint details are lazer straight and sharp in the photos. Very exacting factory stock details in my eye. My hat's off to you Kenny. I love it. Mark

It's close. Got a couple things to go back and fix to be more accurate to factory correct.
