3/5 drop - 5" tire sizes - what are you running?

Hi I recently picked up a 70 GMC C10 Long Bed and I plan on putting a 3/5 drop on it. It has nice steel 15x8 wheels on it (factory 6-lug - not rally rims) and I would like to run these with some period dog dish and maybe trim rings.

What sizes are you running and can you post a picture? Right now it has 31x11.50 in the rear and 31x10.50 in the front which of course, won't work.

Also, if you have any input on my choice of drop, please chime in.

Thank you in advance for your help.

first pic was 2.5" spindles & cut bbc springs (1 coil dropped 2.0") and 5" rear springs. i feel ok without a notch. second (older) pic was 3" cut front springs (also 1 coil but oem sbc springs a bit worn out) and 3" rears.

Re: 3/5 drop - 5" tire sizes - what are you running?

Once my truck is built it'll be on a 5.5/7 drop, spring/disc drop in front with spring/block/notch in the back. I had a 3/5 drop on 15s before I tore back into it, it rode on my bump stops in the back, so I had to lop half of the stops off until they were 1/4in from being flush with the bottom of the frame. I had good suspension travel, there really isnt much weight back there so it didnt bottom out unless it hit a hard pot hole. Even then it wasnt bad. I had KYB gas shocks and they are nice. If one day you ever have the bed off (if I were you) I'd just buy the CPP notch kit and throw that in.

I really liked the 3/5 I had on my truck before, rode great, and I'm sure youll like it.
Plus - youre not rock crawling, so why have more than an inch of suspension travel?

Re: 3/5 drop - 5" tire sizes - what are you running?

I am stoked on the info from everyone. Looks like I can go a 3/5 drop (3" springs front/3" springs + 2" blocks rear, cut the stop in half). Now I'm torn on running 275/60 15 all the way around or 255/60 15 front, 275/60 15 rear... It has 31 11.50 15 in rear now and they rub the bed. I do have a set of 1.5" spacers that will bring the rims out for a better offset.
