Name ideas??

I have a 1977 Silverado and I'm still needing a clever name for it. Longbed. 350/350. And owned by a girl haha if that means anything. Not sure the color, sorta red/purple/brown? Haha. Any ideas welcome.

Re: Name ideas??

Those are nice trucks. In my opinion the nicest square body gm ever made. The 77 was the first year for many things. Only year for the yellow in the chrome the prettiest wood grain interior of any truck power windows ,locks delay wipers the list goes on. I'd say pretty elite truck. My favourite were the 2 tone blue. I had 2 77 trucks in my younger years and like a dumb ass I sold them. Which I still had one of them. So with that being said I'd try find a name that sort of reflects that info.

Well that color description sounds like you are describing a cup of coffee to me . And since its two toned and coffee is sometimes called a cup of joe....... I say Joe Joe or just simply Jojo.

Re: Name ideas??

My first truck was a '77 Silverado. Love the yellow stripe in the trim. Wish I still had it. I bought it from my step-dad, so my suggestion for a name is "pops". They are kind of like the fathers of the squares, and the '80's trucks were their children.

Welcome!

Mike

FWIW: The 1977 Chevrolet P/U was the last one that outsold the Ford P/U. A long time ago! Larry

Well, not to hijack the thread, but that isn't the full truth. GM splitting its sales between GMC and Chevrolet has been a boon for Ford. GM has outsold Ford many time in the past years, but Ford gets to keep claiming best selling truck because Silverado and Sierra aren't the same truck (yeah right). There have been quite a few years that GMC and Chevrolet truck sales combined have outnumbered Ford. I never understood why GM wouldn't have made it a point to advertise that fact, as Ford loves to state "best selling truck" in almost every truck ad they produce.

I do agree with you on that comment. I'm not sure on the years either but I think 99 to 04 approx gm out sold Ford I know for sure gm did in 01. If you listen to fords ads it can be a little confusing some state F series well then that makes a world of difference. Considering all there truck line are f series.

Re: Name ideas??

You should name it my 77 or my Silverado.

It is strange how in different areas of the country people like to name their vehicles more than others.
Things are so regional here in central AL I can only remember a couple of people that named their car or truck?

Re: Name ideas??

I was gonna say name it after your grandma but a brown truck with black wheels is more of an uncle truck and who names their truck after an uncle

Looks like a "Dirty Old Girl" to me.......see how she's got a tooth missing in the front and looks like she ain't had a bath in a few. Probably been rode hard and put up wet a few times too. She ain't no fancy lady and with that 350 in there, she'll kick your butt. GTT

That reminds me of Gretchen Wilson and her Redneck Woman song, gotta throw Gretchen out there for consideration.

She is who I was thinking about,........and a dirty old girl I once knew who could out drink, out party, and probably out fight most of the guys at the party! Gretchen is pretty good looking, but I'll bet she ain't scared to pop a top and throw down. Old friend girl Angela wasn't either! Damn, I miss the 80's. GTT
