Budget handling upgrades for 1984?

I just picked up a 1984 C10 and was wondering about budget (less $1k) suspension upgrades. We here in the southwest have hills and trails that would be more fun if the truck can handle a little better.
already has 1.25 sway bar

Future-
350/ 700r4 or th350/3.73
flip kit (got it)
2 in drop springs (got it)
18 in wheels
255/55/18 tires

Your going to make the rear end lower then the front? Otherwise, a nice lowering with shocks and that 1.25" front sway bar will make it handle whatever you want. Otherwise its big money converting to coil overs and crap you don't need.

Re: Budget handling upgrades for 1984?

since the rear sits about 2 inches higher, i went with a flip kit, and the 2 inch springs will give the truck a "Leveled" look or I may have to trim up to 1 in off the front coil to "Level" it.

ps. most lowering kits are 3/5, 4/6, 5/7 hence the 2 inch difference.
