Re: Just purchased a 65 GMC Suburban

Thank you, It doesn't have a motor in it. It was sold to someone needing one for a fork lift. It came with a 454 and T-400 transmission that the previous owner was going to install in it. WES

Re: Just purchased a 65 GMC Suburban

Welcome to the club from a fellow 66 GMC Burban owner. W should all be so lucky to have such a nice example just "fall in to our laps". That thing has a lot of cool stuff, for starters it's a "Custom" which has the chrome trim, front/rear bumpers, grill and "GMC" letters on front. I could go on and on but please post more pics and any immediate plans you may have for it - congrats!

Re: Just purchased a 65 GMC Suburban

No immediate plans. Maybe an LS motor and 700R4 trans... I don't know. It doesn't have a bad rust problem but definitely going to fix the rust problems that it does have. It even came with mint rust free hatch and tailgate. Might do a 4/6 lowering job on it... It may go up for sale too. I have a 67 panel that I am working on presently that needs my time and effort, but it would make a cool next project too. WES

Re: Just purchased a 65 GMC Suburban

Well if you have a dry place to store it you could pack rat it for a while, or just drop a GM crate 350/350 and drive as is.

Re: Just purchased a 65 GMC Suburban

It came with a 454 with only 2000 miles on it but I am thinking I don't want to go big block in this. WES

Re: Just purchased a 65 GMC Suburban

You have to bump the firewall for a big block on these, passenger side rear of head needs room. Id stuff a small block in it.
