1966 CST with the #'s plate it was built for.

98% finished and had to show the license tag I have had for years to build the right truck to wear it.

Nice. I've got a Nebraska 63 farm truck plate in my collection. I finally last week go the last us 1963 truck plate I needed to complete my collection.

Couple more outside is done. Just a few interior items to complete like installing my nos rubber mat, sunvisors, and armrests when my seat belts get done from being restored. It sure runs smoothly on the zinc rich break in oil.

WOW! Super nice. Neat plate too. Got enough to give this truck a thread of it's own?

Re: 1966 CST with the #'s plate it was built for.

Thanks for all the kind comments from my friends here. It really has been a real labor of love trying to make it so correct and yet a few mods like a 72 disk brake dual resevoir set up using the 66 PB booster and a factory look dual exhaust (wasn't an option till '67) with the correct bent ends to duplicate the NEW trucks at Lambrecht Chevrolet with V8 tailpipes. That sale was so inspirational and one of my best outings in my life as I learned so many details on what true factory assembly line vehicles were like when shipped to the dealer FIRST HAND! Also I had to buy in SW Kansas a 1966 Custom Camper C20 with the complete original 1966 turbo 400 to make it a nut and bolt complete changeover.

Statistic wise this 1966 truck has nearly everything else NOS GM or mint original parts used in it's restoration. Every piece of trim and emblems on the outside is NOS pieces but the bumpers which the rear was nos painted and I has them both show plated with nos stainless bumper bolts. All the sheet metal is genuine GM production metal with no rust repairs. Even the cab has the oem rockers and unbelievably the oem roof gutter seam sealer in place. The cab came from a low mile C30 with a cab over camper. The box from Phoenix area was mint with a shell on it since new. I opted out using one of my new take off tailgates with chains. All the oem factory spot welds were left as is to promote the real factory look.

Sadly...... I have been rethinking my vehicle collection after my 60 Vette that I also had spent so much time and effort was destroyed this summer and nearly took this 1966 CST truck and everything else I owned and valued so deeply or so I thought.

Lesson to learn is NEVER drive your classic and after a long road trip pull it straight into your storage building and close the door and walk away. My Vette, unbelievably spared my car collection when it died 300 feet from it's parking spot or it would have been in that building when it exploded into flames. More pictures and description of the 1966 CST later when I have time to detail the nos red dot Anco wipers, T3's, grille, and NOS WW spare tire etc.

Mark

Yikes! I've done this countless times ... though I have thought about the risk of doing so. I might change my ways after seeing the disastrous result on your beautiful Corvette.

Mark sorry to see what happend to your corvette. I have been guilty of pulling my cars & trucks in the garage hot and walking away. Bad habits

Truck looks great! Love the plate. Can't wait to see it out and about.

Speaking of parking a hot truck.... what's the alternative? Leave it outside to cool? Or sit there and watch it cool down in the garage? Neither is ideal, lol. Better than a garage fire, though, I suppose.
