1959 Apache Truck

Is it worth buying?

So this truck went up for sale for a fairly reasonable price. I think it would be a pretty sweet truck for daily driver. The truck is rust free but it has a flat bed on it. I have a 1954 AD project that I'm working on, so I'm trying to figure out whether or not its worth getting this truck, swapping a fuel injected engine into it and use it as a daily driver.

depends on your marital status

rust free isn't an option around here. no bed and missing parts
but if the price is right and you have the room for another project....

I wouldn't chance it. Far too much work! You'd be better off to post where it is and let one of your forum buddies pick it up.
You'd be better off doing this than keeping it.

Re: 1959 Apache Truck

Rust free? Reasonable price, like close to cost of new repop fenders and doors? No brainer. You can probably find a good bed in your area, or buy new from Mar-K.

Re: 1959 Apache Truck

NO don't buy it! Don't fix it up! Tell the owner to leave it in the tall grass and cover it with a tarp to preserve it, or better yet a sheet of plastic. Then tell him to never, ever, under any circumstances, to sell it but instead leave it out there where everyone can see it rotting away. And tell anyone bold or stupid enough to inquire about buying it, that he is going to restore it someday as soon as he gets enough time and money and builds a shop and his kids graduate from college and his wife says it ok.....

..or at least that's what everyone does with them around here

hHell yeah buy it!!

Re: 1959 Apache Truck

The chances of that truck being "rust free" are between slim and none.

Re: 1959 Apache Truck

I keep taking on two projects at a time. No room to work, no room for parts storage, no room to park my daily drivers in the garage. Something to think about.

Re: 1959 Apache Truck

parking the dd in a garage is over rated anyway

Reminded me of my Dad's selling strategy. Cover some old rig with a ragged surplus army tarp with just one corner showing like it had slipped off. When the mark. err customer, asked about it made a big fuss about covering it back up then let the guy talk him into selling it.

Re: 1959 Apache Truck

Got home from drill today and the truck was sold. The truck was really a rust free one. Oh well. C'est la vie.
