Re: 72 Super Roadtrip-Coast to Coast

As far as the truck is concerned
Thanks for asking sawyerrm

A couple days ago it didn't just fire up immediately
Like it usually does in the morning
No biggy. It drove fine that day

Yesterday we did a lot of driving in the hills then several hours Hwy
When we turned into town totake the scenic route
To Cody and Yellowstone
It would hesitate on throttle at stop and go
I started to smell fuel(that hadn't happened before)

We pulled to the side of the road, popped the hood
I wanted to make sure it wasn't dumping gas on the manifold
It wasn't, but I had to hold the pedal to the floor to start again

About that time. Jim pulled up behind us
Walked right up and started talking Chevy s
I told him out story. Asked him, where I might find a mechanic (just in case)
For tomorrow
He gave me directions to one(go back to the light take a right drive
past the high school take a left then go a couple miles till you see a
McDona) (oh heck with it, follow me I'll take there )

We jumped in the truck and took off. On the way over I thought
I'm gonna open this up, blow out the carb(maybe something just got stuck
So I raced, punched it, slowed down gunned it all the way to the place

It was close to six when we pulled in
Out walked one guy, then another, then one more
I told them my story(but when I drove in the carb now felt responsive
They said pop the hood
And took a look, gave me some tips what to do if it acts up again
And I gave them enough money for a 12 pack

Asked if they had a smart phone, so I could link them to my story
But the main guy said he didn't even know how to spell
Computer
So we just shook hands and said our goodbyes

I knew Jim was a trustworthy guy when he wrote his # on this
And gave it to me

I was definitely not %100 sure we were going to make it to Cody
Last night

I'm going to fire it up this morning and drive around town a bit
Before I take on some more hills
