Re: 72 Super Roadtrip-Coast to Coast

Yes
These phones are amazing
We did this whole trip
From an IPhone
Rarely did I use wifi

Much of the time we were out of service
But when you get by a town or freeway
It comes back online

A lot of time when Brad drives
I just fool around with the pictures
Experiment !

Your shots are as good as any of them! Consider adding to that thread so others can see your talent.

here ya go... not your year, but a ballpark figure. Think of the savings on motel rooms, and you could fix vittles too. Harvest an occasional critter along the way for the stew pot.

Re: 72 Super Roadtrip-Coast to Coast

Haven't lots of us dreamed of doing this. Vicarious living. I've been curious(since you left point of origin) to see how engine handles altitude changes and effect on MPG IF you've monitored that. Have you encountered any rain yet? I haven't read in a few days.

The craziest thing about this trip
Is
We havent had to drive in any rain
Only
A couple sprinkles leaving Yellowstone
Until today
The last 1/2 hour it rained pretty hard
But we found shelter
This town happens to have a brewery

There claim to fame Smallest Brewery in Mt

Thanks for the info
We decided to pass on the trailer
The blue didn't quite match the truck

Plus I was worried about my gas miliage
nOt really
I've had so many of these trucks
They all get About
10mpg
Sometimes 9 if you are towing
And sometimes 14.5 if you are going down hill
A Long Time

A couple days ago we might have got around 16
But it was all down hill

I think I posted on elevation yesterday
The carb loaded up before the first big climb
Ever since then (perfection)

somewhere in the mountains
The gas guage stopped working
That was a bit stressfull
Not knowing how much we had

Now we've been working on a formula
How many miles to a tank of gas

In other trucks I have had its easy (200)
This hasn't been as easy because
The odometer is off it rolls around 1-2tenths per mile
And
Hills vs flat. Vs lack of gas stations in remote areas

But it has been fine so far

Brake light actually came on over a week ago when
We slammed the brakes
To get a good picture of that red quanset hut
We monitor them and seem fine

Thanks. I checked that thread out a bit
But it loads way to slow on my phone
I've never seen it till you pointed it out
I'll check it out when I get home

It's funny, I never set out to be posting cool pics
When I started this thread, it just sort of happened
Now I always keep my eyes open for opportunity.
At the top of this mountain. In the most remote area
I saw this sign.

We said what the heck, no biggy
Dirt road
Only a gallon of gas out and back
Let's do it

I thought I could get a pic of a ghost town
When we got there
It was another mile walk (no problem)
But it was so remote I was afraid to turn the truck off
It has started every time this whole trip
But if it didn't that time
We were in trouble
