60-63 chrome door window frames?
So how rare or unusual are the chrome window frames for the '60-63 trucks?
I just found a guy parting one, and it had the chrome window frames. My Suburban and K-10 have no window frame for the door glass. Worth getting, or not worth the hassle? -Brad

Re: 60-63 chrome door window frames?
My 63 C60 and my 61 Apache had side window frames but they weren't chromed. I am led to believe they had something to do something to do with tempered, or safety glass.

Re: 60-63 chrome door window frames?
have seen only a handful on 60,61 chevy and gmc custom cabs that had the deluxe trim package like 60 61 chevys that had the rear cab trim. I recall a 60 gmc in a junk yard in westpoint va that had chrome door glass and vent window frames also the division post was chrome or stainless.that was 32years ago. check out the concept truck pics thread those trucks have chrome frames.

My 1960 Custom C-10 Apache Has The Original Chrome Side Window Frames, Chrome Window Wings, Stainless Trim Around Windshield, And Chrome Bar Below Large Back Window That Attaches to The Bottom Of The Stainless Door Sails.

Re: 60-63 chrome door window frames?
I have the same set up on my '60 Chevy. I don't have the windshield trim on because I couldn't find the weatherstrip for the windshield that works with the trim. I have that trim in my garage for now.

Re: 60-63 chrome door window frames?
my 60 panel has the door window trim but it is not chromed (at least not anymore if ever).. I heard (not sure of the accuracy to take it for what it is worth) the door window trim was part of the "Apache" models in 60 and 61
They do not repop these (not that I've ever found anyway) so if your truck came with them and you want to put them back on, it is worth grabbing up if they are in decent shape. But if your truck did not come with it then it is not anything that you will need. If I understand correctly, if you have or are going to use the trim, it takes a different window seal and felt to accommodate the extra thickness added by the trim.

Re: 60-63 chrome door window frames?
I don't have them on my truck--found it on a truck someone is parting out. The chrome is rough--it'd all have to be rechromed.
One interesting aspect is that in another current thread showing a '60-'61 truck with the chrome door glass trim, it's obviously tempered glass in the door, because it's busted and is small rounded pieces that remain: The door glass in the pic Spacedebris posted is clearly not tempered glass. -Brad

Yeah, I'm not sure what year the change from laminated glass to tempered glass happened, but in 60 at least all the glass was laminated glass and that window is factory, never replaced. The tempered in the other thread was likely replaced at one time or another. When time comes to fix mine, it too will have tempered, for safety and because that it what is available now.
