Re: 73 87 LS swap headers

What do you have in your truck now for engine mounts, and transmission? Many times it'll make a difference in whose headers you can use. That's one area where you get what you pay for. Holley, JBA, Kooks, and StainlessWorks are all going to be good bets.

Re: 73 87 LS swap headers

Doug Thorley is a good brand too, but you'll want to ask the companies that are building these what engine mounts their headers were designed around. Engine mounts for LS swaps vary wildly, so what fits great on one truck may hit everything on yours, simply because of different mounts and where they position the engine.

Re: 73 87 LS swap headers

Pacesetter headers for a Trailblazer SS work VERY well. Minimal trimming to the frame and they tuck up tight.

Re: 73 87 LS swap headers

Im running Hedman, Husler series. 1-7/8" w/3" collector.

They are a tight fit and I had to do a little trimming on the engine mount, but nothing to big a deal.

Ive heard guys running 4th Gen F-Body headers, but I havent tried it.

Re: 73 87 LS swap headers

We have ran the Hedman Husler LS Engine Swap Headers #45666 on two different swaps and like them a lot!

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/hed-45666/overview/

They have gone up a bunch in price since I bought my last set....

I made my own motor mounts but the engine is in nearly the same location as the small block was.

These are a fantastic value. I've ordered two pairs from them (not for trucks) and they are very nice. There is a recent thread on here about them, google Speed Engineering 67-72chevytrucks.

Re: 73 87 LS swap headers

Most aftermarket swap headers are designed around 1" setback mounts, but call the manufacturer to confirm if it's not called out in the listing.
