High Note Horn Mounting Location ?
Found a dual horn set up at the local wrecking yard with jumper wire. When I went to mount the high note horn I noticed my core support was not drilled to accept the second horn ? The indentation is there to locate it, is this normal ? Thanks for any help.....

Re: High Note Horn Mounting Location ?
Hmm... that's interesting. I've looked at dozens of these trucks with dual horns and they all had the high note horn located in that location under the left headlight as shown in the picture I posted. Do you, or does anyone else, have a picture showing one in the location you are referring to? The low note horn is the one on the core support adjacent to the radiator which I am positive is its correct location.

Re: High Note Horn Mounting Location ?
Agree with location but I don't know which horn goes where.

Re: High Note Horn Mounting Location ?
So...the $10,000 question is:
has anyone mounted a low/high note horn pair on an earlier truck that doesn't have the factory mounting holes? |

Re: High Note Horn Mounting Location ?
The high note horn goes under the headlight. The low note goes on the vertical "support" next to the radiator. This is the same location as the mounting point for low note only trucks.
I mounted a high horn on my original core support in the late 70s by drilling a hole in about the same location as shown in the picture I posted. I based that on the location on the donor vehicle. The tough part is finding a high horn that works. |

Re: High Note Horn Mounting Location ?
Easy, just bolt them to the same location, one turned 90 degrees from the other and stack them.

Re: High Note Horn Mounting Location ?
My horns that I took off my 71 both have the same mount and both where under the light! Unless you are showing the truck in a 100% state why even worry about it. Just mount them and be happy!

Re: High Note Horn Mounting Location ?
I removed the dual set up from a 69 C-20, they where mounted side by side, not using only one bolt. My 71 GMC has the locater notch for the second horn but no hole ? Also the jumper wire is way to short to connect that horn under the light ?

Re: High Note Horn Mounting Location ?
The picture in post 1 of this thread is the best I can find of an original jumper wire.
