Re: Aluminum polish
Truck box polish. Go to Lowes and where they have the pickup truck bed aluminum boxes, they have bottles of aluminum polish in a blue bottle. Im Polishing my airstream trailer with it.

Re: Aluminum polish
Many years ago I used to use this stuff called Never Dull on my aluminum wheels. It's a steel wool-ish type material but not as course as steel wool. It came in a can and had some solution in it. It shined my wheels up nicely.

Re: Aluminum polish
Are you sure they aren't coated? And what have you tried?

Re: Aluminum polish
Still got a can. It is also still available. Great stuff. I've used it on chrome and aluminum and it works like a charm.

Re: Aluminum polish
I just polished mine - used the never dull from a can - almost cottony in appearance, and treated. I wiped that clean and followed up with Mother's billet polish - worked pretty well..

Re: Aluminum polish
Thanks for the replies. These are new Cal Custom pieces and they are not coated. I've tried Mothers and Never Dull without good results. I can take them off and buff them very nicely but if I work on the engine and sweat on them it leaves a water stain that won't polish out. I have hears semi shine works good on alum. Has anyone used that? Also I'm thinking about polishing them with a buffer and having them clear coated.

Re: Aluminum polish
I have been meaning to call the metal polisher guy I took my aluminum grill to. He media blasted the anodizing off and told me I'd have to polish the thing from then on. It's been sitting in my living room since reassembly......I'll call him right now and try and find out what kind of polish he suggests.
Just called and his wife suggests this, which I will be ordering today. https://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&ke...l_8z43217ods_e Last edited by In The Ten Ring; 09-28-2016 at 12:13 PM. |

Re: Aluminum polish
Sounds like many here have had great results using "garbage"
![]() I have used Simichrome. It's a paste with the finest abrasive. It is what you use on a lexan windshield on a bike. It's best for final hand work. http://www.googleadservices.com/page...Q0QwINA&adurl= There are probably many threads on this in the "Detailing" forum where a general topic not necessarily 67-72 belong http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/f...splay.php?f=65
