What is the difference between '72 and '73 suspensions? Are the spring mounting locations different?

The front springs are different lengths, the '72's are shorter. The rears would both be 52" long. So in other words, a lift designed to fit a '73 will not fit a '72.

Actually the front springs are 1/2 inch wider on the 73-up. They are the same length...

I believe the front springs are also 3" longer on 73 and up trucks. As for wider I know the 72 and earlier springs are 3" wide at the ends and 2.5" wide in the middle, stock. Most aftermarket springs are 2.5" wide the whole length, at least the following manufacturers: tuff country, rough country and rugged trail(black diamond) and super lift.

Rear springs are the same. It also appears the brackets are the same as well as shock locations up front, the rear shocks could be different depending on weight class(1/2,3/4 etc...). As for the axles up front mounting lcations are the same, brake hoses could be different. In the rear lots of difference concerning mounting pad locations.

In the rear lots of difference concerning mounting pad locations. __________________ 1970 K25, 8' stepside bed 350/465/205 44 up front, 60 in the rear 4.10s rolling on 33" Dunlop MTs 1986 K5, 350/465/208 Dana 60/14 bolt from a cucv 36" Super Swampers TSL/SX 1983 K20 w/ CUCV axles, 350/700R4/208 sitting on 37" Goodyears 1986 M1031 6.2 diesel, TH400/NP205 locker in the rear and a LS in the front, all stock for now..... 1986 K30, 350/400/205 dana 60 and 14 bolt. I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone. 1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed.
