New cab lift!!

new cab lift . I think it is gonna beat the heck out of balancing the the old 4x4 on top of my engine hoist! It will adjust out (to the door drip rails) to what ever size cab I want to lift. It pivots on the top of my engine hoist. It does not restrict the use of the hoist for engine removal because only mounting bracket needs to stay on top when not in use. Can be used from side or front or back through window holes if no glass is installed!Only problem I can forsee is balancing from front to back of cab when side lifting if the heavy stuff like brake boosters are still installed but a little weight in the back of cab should correct this. Best thing is it mounts to the top of hoist so it gives maximum height on lift.

Great idea solver.Also well within the abilities of anyone with the skill to need an engine hoist.As a suggestion maybe a third arm at a 90 degree angle(adjustable like the others) would help to solve the balance problem.
All in all a good way to expand the capabilities of a piece of equipment you already have.

cab lift

Very NiceThought of something afterwards, appears that you could lift the bed with the same apparatus. All you need to do is add a hook to the top and you could still use the engine hoist to lift it

Sweet! I love increasing the usefulness of Tools we already own.
I've been thinking about using the ram from my hoist to build an english wheel... Good work!

process help

Got a cab lifted with this method (no clean brackets) but then realized that the legs to the hoist were between the front and back wheels and could not pull unit out from in between. Are you backing up the hoist somehow? The mechanical advantage to pull it backward seemed missing (weight out front and cab tippy)

That's an awesome rig you've built solver, your idea, or did you find a plan for that? Very ingenious. Creative welding! Man, I miss having an arc welder. I'm wanting a mig that'll handle stuff that heavy.

I was thinking about building the same thing-but I'm concerned it will be too front heavy-(might tip over/foward) and that it won't reach far enough to remove a LWB bed

have you used it yet? let us know how it works

maybe I should just build a swing set instead?
