which primer
I have sanded my 69 swb chevy to bare metal. I was wondering which type of primer would be best for the show type of paint job?

PPG makes an excellent 2-part epoxy primer called DP-40LF (LF means Lead Free). The stuff is about $150 for a gallon of primer plus 2 quarts of activator, but it sticks like crazy and is impervious to water absorption (unlike lacquer type primers).
PPG has data sheets for their products available online in PDF format. Dupont, Sherwin Williams, etc. probably also have similar products. Just look for your friendly local auto body paint and supply store. Good luck. ------------------ '68 C20 - fresh 355,CH465,HO72,rough body '71 C20 parts truck '68 Chevelle ragtop project '57 Belair hardtop project tons of ambition

The PPG epoxy primer is awsome, but I think you're supposed to use a bare metal etching primer first. If you use the epoxy primer, make sure your apply something else on top of it (like primer-surfacer) in a few days, because it literally gets too hard to adhere to after a week or so.

dupont epoxy primer is the best stuff ever you can spray it direct to metal and you can do any mudding that you have to do on top of the primer.
