Edelbrock Carb/700R4 TV Cable ?

We are looking at putting the Edelbrock Performer intake manifold and the #1406 600 CFM square bore carburetor on our 350 long block. We have a rebuilt 700R4 to mate up with the 350, but I've read that the throttle valve cable setting/adjustment is critical to the performance and longevity of the tranny.

(As a side note, I've been told that Holley has a bracket for the 700R4, so it seems that Edelbrock should have one as well.)

Does anyone that has done this swap know if the carb linkage has the correct location to mount the ball (?) to attach the TV cable to? I also need to know if there is a mounting bracket available where I can land the outer jacket on the TV cable so that it can be adjusted.

Some pictures would be sincerely appreciated as well! As always, thanks for your support!!!!

If you want to spend the money, around 100 bucks. Bowtie overdrive makes a kit for the Edelbrock Performer intake manifold and the #1406. That would be the easiest way to do it. IMO.

Now that's what I'm talkin' about! Does it work as well as it looks???? If so, that is money well spent in my book!

Yes, it works just as well as it looks. It's pricey, but you get what you pay for. I had it when I had the 700 in my truck and loved it. It's fool proof, if you can read and understand directions. When it comes to a 700, it's the best $100 insurance you'll ever spend.

Can't say how well it works, yet. My rebuild is going very slowly. Money issue! Bowtie overdrives folks really know their stuff. I know this set up is going to work great. If you have any questions call the bowtie overdrive folks, they are great. Sold me. Cheap insurance on an expensive tranny. They also send a stiff spring to go on the spool in the tranny. They goturfigured out! Danny

Get the cable adjusted perfectly, or by a pro.

One of my friends put an Edelbrock carb on his '86 K10. He called me up asking what to do with the kickdown cable, then i remembered about the cruicial adjustment. I told him to get it adjusted by a pro with a pressure guage. He bought some kind of a bracket for it from Edelbrock, took it to a "professional" who just played with the TV cable and did no real adjustment. The tranny lasted about 60 miles before he went out.
