upper control arm assy dilema
on my 99 GMC Sonoma, I need to replace the upper control arms bushings. i have decided to just replace the arms themselves. problem is, the ones i want to buy do not come with the cross bar to mount them to the chassis.
how do you install the mount bars on the new control arms with out taking out the new bushings in the arm?

I've only worked on the 2wd S10 trucks so your question was intriguing because you're right, they should have shafts.
Now, are you sure your new control arms aren't for a 4x4 S10 ? They use an upper arm without shaft best I can tell. |

Re: upper control arm assy dilema
Hope this shows up. If it does just scrow down the page till pics of upper control arms show up. Complete with shaft and ball joint, as low as 50.00 to 110.00. OK won't let it load to large. Just go to http://www.rockauto.com/ select Chevrolet, select S-10 truck, select any engine size, select suspension, select control arms, should show you the different arms. Hope this helps...Jim

Re: upper control arm assy dilema
I replaced upper control arm bushings on a 99 S-10 and didn't need a press. We used good old fashion brute force. Hammered out the old and hammered in the new. The entire control arm needs to come out of the truck. Make sure you watch your shims when they get loose.
You should get it aligned when your done.
