My 1st Project

Hello everyone

Just got this what I think is a 1950 chevy pickup. I don't know much information on it, I thought it was a 54 but a lot of people have said it wasn't. I will post pictures later on today. I hope that this forum can help me as I heard that I have a few alternatives that I can do to this truck.

Re: My 1st Project

there you go!

So you see that blue plate on the driver's side door cowl? That's the serial # plate. You'll be able to decipher what year you have from many sources.

Regarding what you want to do with you're truck, take a step back and think what do you really want? Frame off nut & bolt restoration? Lay it in the weeds custom? Resto-mod hotrod?

Then take into consideration of what your skills you have, budget, tools and space available. Draft a set of 4-5 goals that will meet your direction and there you go! easy peezie

Also looking at the builds on this forum can't hurt.

Thanks, ill look into that tomorrow morning.
What I think I really want is to bag it, maybe just get all new chrome. Thinking about getting a 6.0 with a cam .

My budget isnt that much right now at this moment. Not that much space here available. Thanks

Ill look into this forum further

Hey ive looked at the plate its really bad, is there another way I can get the serial number?
I also have two titles so one of them has to be it. According to one of them one title has a 50, and the other title shows a 54. Im thinking mine is the 50 model.

the serial number of the truck is ONLY on that plate. its not on the frame, and most trucks of this era were titled according to the engine number, which doesnt match the plate either.

if you take it off (it has special screws holding it) make sure you keep the screws to reinstall it. try everything to read it before resorting to removing it but sometimes if you flip it over its easier to see the numbers stamped on it.

I agree its not a 54, two piece windshield, one piece door glass, drivers cowl vent, looks right for a 50. compare the title VIN to the engine stamping, its on a flat pad behind the distributor.
