advice on painting tilt

What do you all suggest on painting a black tilt column to 72 Blue?

Talking

We painted my son's tilt to match the interior color in his Blazer, (brown) and it looks pretty sweet. The exterior of his Blazer is Bronze.

I know originally all tilts were black but painting them to match the interior color looks good.

We always disassemble columns prior to painting, but they can be masked off.

You need to clean that sucker untill you think your finget prints are gonna come off...then clean it some more.
Not much of an exaduration...you need to get all that oil out from the last 30 years of use, of the pinat won't stuck properly.

Jimkshortstep, Is that right that all tilts are black orignially? So my 72 CHeyenne has blue interior would have had a black tilt with a black wheel? The non tilt column is blue in it now.

robby, that is correct on the column, they were all black.
I am unsure if the wheel was column color, or dash color. The only stock original tilt I have seen was a black on black truck, so it had a black wheel in it.

robby,

Longhorn Man is right, all the tilts were black with a black wheel. My 72 custom deluxe w/ Highlander package has a black tilt and black wheel. (76000 original miles).
