50 3100 Dropped on S10 Frame, Super Low, Patina...

Well I guess it's time to start a build thread and introduce myself... I'm David, in Jacksonville FL... I just picked up a 1950 3100 1/2 ton, on an S10 frame... to finish up my way... I'm also a photographer so there will be tons of pics from photoshoots in this thread as it progresses. Back to the truck... it's Patina with some left over original Dark Green, She's currently sporting the 4.3 and 700r4... which will turn into a 350 as some point... She's still got the original seat, springs, and fabric with two tears in the bottom the back is in great shape... I was pretty amazed at that. My plans for the truck short term... I'm currently working on sealing up the floors, and 50 sq feet of Dynamat is on it's way here so quiet her down a bit inside... I plan on painting the interior and having the seat, carpet and door panels re-done here real soon... and just clearing the outside to preserve the patina... Airride is in the near future as well... It's going to wait on the interior to be finished before I start the suspension. One nice thing is they fab'd up the ride height so low it looks like I'll be able to get it to lay in the weeds without a step notch... After reading quite a few threads on here I've never seen one done the way this one is... the rear of the cab is mounted on the frame and the forward section has cab mounts... this gives it an unreal low stance for the body but the frame has plenty of ground clearance... Basically I'm rattling on so I'll stop for now but here's a quick cell phone pic of the truck... More to come!...

Hi David
If you get up early some Sat morning drive it over to the Krispy Kreme on San Jose just south of 295 We get 30-50 cars every Sat morning... Would like to see it up close.

Yeah I'm never up that early to make the Krispy Kreme meets... but I do try to make it to the Winn Dixie one on San Jose on the 2nd Sat of the month 5-8pm and Lowes on the 3rd Sat's... and Main St Cruise on the 4th Sat... I won't be at the one this Sat though... the Auto Combine will be in Green Cove (mostly newer stuff)... Prolly taking the truck and the wife's car to it...

My cab is mounted super low on the frame, rear of the cab is mounted ridged on the frame and front is like 1.5 inches on a cab mount... then a 2 inch drop on the s10 suspension

I'm wondering why the lower mounging doesn't get done more often. I'll have to give that a try when I get to that point.

Those pics are worthy of becoming the picture for my desktop background.... keep them coming

15x8 Deluxe from Earlywheel.com and the tires are just normal white walls ground down to the wide whites, see youtube... I want to say off the top of my head they are 265/65's but I'd have to go look to make sure...

Yeah I love the lower mounting of the body, it is going to make my bag set up real easy, I can lay bumpers and running boards with no C Notch, and thanks for the compliment on the pics!...

Build UPDATE: Well the truck is back form paint, the interior is all freshly done Charcoal Mist Metallic, and the outside has been cleared. Pics will come soon if it ever stops raining here in Florida, New front and back glass is in... FYI roping in windows is easy the fronts took us 20 minutes, the rear on the other hand... took 4 hours of fighting... The seal I ordered from LMC truck had a locking strip which made it a ***** and the seal was cut to fit... if you have the option buy a solid seal... if not... buy the locking strip tool before attempting install... fighting that lil guy is a ***** without the right tool... from what I've been told with the tool it's not so hard... we just didn't have it and was to late at night to go get one... So we made it work...

Re: 50 3100 Dropped on S10 Frame, Super Low, Patina...

I know this is an old thread, If the original poster is still around, have yiu had any issues with the front fenders bottoming out being that low while driving?
Im at the point in my build where I need to decide just how low to go with dropped spindles and spring combo. Don't have the dough for bags
